A Suite of Nothings

As I speak the words imprinted
on your never mind, a chorus
of phones wrings out indifference
and hangs it in my closet.

The first flush of youth pales
to nonchalance, washed away
by semantic swirls excreting
vapid trails in wasted space.

The voice of reason floats
another corpulent anomaly and settles
on your bed, expecting redress.
In the beginning, it was good;
ergo it was not. It was all good,
incomparably so, until goodness
saw the light and sank its teeth
into my ulterior motif.

Hysteria repeats itself, its lust for life
a copulative tissue that belies the taste
of failure; a message mixed in rhetoric
becomes forbidden fruit of echolalia.

I'm a bit scattered tonight, but I've read this a couple of times, I think I'm going ot just toss out thoughts as they hit me, please forgive the multiple short notes rather than one more well thought out know.

First thought, should 'never-mind' be hyphenated? I'm trying to wrap my brain around that particular usage - which I find witty and interesting. It's something I've tried to do with varying degrees of success. In this case, I love how you did it. I wonder if the lack of hyphen makes it mean something slightly different than if you'd had it.

I don't know -- if it means something different, I'd prefer to have both versions in there, but that would be an indulgence, and as you know, I'm strictly minimalist [splutter]

Your comment suggests that the hyphen is there, even when it's not, so I guess I have the best of both words (whilst narrowly avoiding the obligatory cliché)

I love the multi-entedre of this piece. Having read it several times over, I get a different twist, dependant on which word or phrase I choose to emphasise in my mind. This seems ripe with sardonic glibness, whilst at the same time  allowing one to reminisce upon the ejaculate of creation.

In other words.....awegasmic! I love it.

Thanks Mos; I can't imagine that your self-attributed unpopularity is a product of your commenting skills...
