An angel who’s a whore
Is handing out copies of Rolling Stone
She says
“How you doing fella?
Would you like something to read
Or someone to do?

I stood beside a Levenbrech
Sick of fighting your wars
He was contemplating suicide
As he said
“Do you remember Hitler
or was it Charlemagne?
Who wanted Austria
So the pain would go away?”

Now I’m standing by myself
Looking at my wealth
And I say
“Hey God, why don’t you throw me a bone?
Or will I have to stand the silence,
Pretending that we’re not alone?”

It’s all the same
We reach out our hands
Give on demand
And we scream

But somehow

We continue with our lives
Living out some old fools dream
