Sacred Inamorata
Suddenly last winter
I started going out of my head
In a house of many rooms
Lying naked as I bled
I knew what I was doing, not what I had done
Her life with me was ending, my new life had begun
I was cursing her name, I was cursing these rooms
I needed no strength to stop loving her
I started writing you the letter
Which turned into these books
I reached across the distance
In the hope that you would look
But what kind of man was I
Would I sacrifice your happiness to satisfy my pride
What kind of man was I
To delay his destiny to appease my tiny mind
Then you came to me after I’d fallen to my knees
With a glint in my eyes and blood between my teeth
Then I ripped out my heart for you to see
That I’d been dying of a thirst without your company
You quenched my loneliness with my tears
Our clothes fell away as we rolled back my years
We couldn’t deny it because we couldn’t reveal
If our love is too strong to die
Are we just too weak to kill it
Our love is too strong to die
As we continue to feed it
Every moment in this room
I close my eyes
You’re there
Every moment I awake
I clench you without fear
What kind of man am I
Who won’t sacrifice your happiness to satisfy his pride
What kind of man am I
Who would delay his destiny to appease your lovely mind
Who won’t delay our destiny to appease his aching swollen pride
Who won't delay our destiny to appease his screaming little mind
You’re mine
