Shakespeare's Monkeys

Infinite Monkeys. Infinite Typewriters.

More in The Poetry of Rygar

tethered

Delusional time, increments agreed,

Using the mind to implement need.

Abusing in kind the tree and the seed,

Musing to find how we can be free.

Freedom, a concept denied,

Come to find it’s thwarted when tried,

Free as a bird, pretty words but all lies,

Me in this world chained to tears that I’ve cried.

The fears that I’ve reared, living disgrace,

The years disappear, lining my face,

Clearly the sheer volume and pace,

Severely adhere to put me in my place.

Never allowed to be what was meant,

Even though vows were made on ascent,

What we are now I simply lament,

Wondering how to break free from torment.

So I lay down with line and with crease,

Quick to astound, wonders never cease,

With quieting sound, I know this with peace,

Freedom is found within deaths release

In my opinion your last staza holds the most impact and it's my favorite part of your poem.  I like the overall rhyme throughout it.  Maybe in your first stanza you could change "free" to "freed":)
