Courting Divorce

Sanctus Effeminatus

On the outside
We share a room
A garden
Some flowers
But in our hearts
We live alone
Counting the hours

In your arms
I am complete
I’m happy when it’s over
You will bathe
I will snore
You’ll lie awake beside me

How long will we share
The lies that keep us warm
How patient will we be

Enough to carry on

hahaha I loved "You will bathe / I will snore". At first glance this seemed to be an airy love poem, but after reading it a second time, I see it has more blue to it.

I think the word "like" is supposed to be "lie", though.

Nice job.

DOH!!! I really had a bad day that day it seems...typo corrected.

Interesting interpretation of this being a "blue" piece, It's actually leaning more towards pointing out how futile (and self deceiving) love is.

Wonderfully clear concise writing again - minimalist yet pithy. One way of reading this ironically asserts the potency of the romantic myth over the reality of dis-illusionment. Warm lies are preferred to cold actuality - "lies" acts as a clever pun on deceit and the physical lying down in the co-habited bed. If truth leads to cold isolation then let us sustain our warm illusions of togetherness...Rgds., Alan.

That's a great review Alan and also shows my playing with tthe words was well worth it. As always, thanks and glad you enjoyed.

First of all, I really like.  Second, what I took from this, is the fundimental differences of sexes and how we manage to make it work.  I also took that marriage is not all "happily ever after", its more "Comfortably ever after, until we decide comfort isnt enough"!
