Icenii

Boudicca

Sight unseen
Voice unheard

Yet here I am

Uplifted

Feet untouched by ground
Cheshire grin on face

I am not breathing
Yet filled with life

Your words
Parcelled out to me

Me the poor wordsmith
Standing at the soup line
Waiting for the next meal
Next word
Anything to ease the starvation

There is no struggle in this
Your strength imbues me with fight

Witty rejoinders bounce across the ether
Waiting responses
Knowing they will come

I will be Friday’s child
Both swaddling and swaddled
When finally we meet

You have stepped into my darkling realm
Lit the torches
Banished moribund thoughts

You are the Queen
Of this damned
Foisting rebellion upon my mind

My thoughts tend to joy
There is vigour in my heart

What then of this descendant of Rome

When I hear your Siren song

Sounds a bit of a quandary.  After all, getting whipped naked might seem quite a lark under some circumstances -- especially when it's followed by wild nights of chariot racing and chargrilling Italians -- but it's got to be wearying.  And you'd think it would be better to be alive than dead, but without death who actually gets to live for two thousand years and inspire poets and soup addicts alike?  This Boudicca of yours, does she battle for the sake of it or does she take up the cause when it's thrust upon her?

lol, cracka comments as always Leanne!

My Boudicca battles with my words, both in the form of witty retorts and also my penchant for ailing illiteration :P

I really like this one Andrew, especially the lines

"You are the Queen

Of this damned

Foisting rebellion upon my mind"
