raindrops and sunshine

i was walking in the sunshine
a few days ago and it really never occurred to me
how heavy the air was

yesterday,
when the rains came
and filled 2 buckets
with eight pounds of water
flooded streets with millions of gallons
and made Pawtucket Falls near-burst

i was stunned to think
those millions of tons
of fresh cold water floated atop

and I thought of all the energy it must take
to push all that around

all the energy it takes
for God to kiss me
with a summer breeze
