I am uglier
than hell

I wear jeans
I wear button down shirts
and plain sox
I wear boxers, not briefs
(never briefs)

in black spandex
I am even uglier
like a hairless mole rat
full of folds
and rounded fat
adipose tissue rolling this way
and that.
but I do not wear black spandex
even to funerals
even to weddings
even to the gym on Wednesdays.

I wear a baseball hat
sometimes
I wear a gold band on my left hand
and a diamond on my right
always
with my hair pulled back.
it doesn't matter though
I am ugly
even dressed like this.
