He was born in Arlington, MA, with his left hand significantly larger than his right. He graduated from Lexington High School, and was accepted into Harvard, before he was drafted. He served with honor and little else in the Korean War, and later played as a wide receiver in the NFL . He died in Concord, following a lengthy illness.  He is survived by his wife, Isabelle; two daughters, Erin Black and her husband, Walter of Tyngsboro, and Justine LaFayette and her husband, Daniel of Concord, NH; and six grandchildren, all but one too young to remember him in a decade. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
