Norm milliken - I hardly know what to make of these three "dated pieces," but there is something about them that draws me in, even after several readings. They are fascinating.

He was born without a father, screaming in his grandmother's kitchen in Desdunes, Haiti. Then he was orphaned by a fire caused by the candles on his first birthday cake. Eventually he became a thief and a conman, robbing tourists with an easy smile and a quick story. With these skills, he learned the art of poetry, and soon became famous all over his country for his pithy verse.
