Abstemious

I left behind flesh and bone
Buried in a shallow
Nameless grave

It followed

Unrepentant
Amoral of mind
Breathless
Heartless

If I could dig a deeper one
I would
Leave that flesh behind
Naught but a requiem
To the disconsolate

The sorrow of this mind
Belies the fallacy of truth
Crows murdered
Piebald with sludge
Bereft of concern

Shame
Batters
The blameless gyrate
Dervish with desire
As they sin for love

So I let the corpse follow
As it reminds me
I am its burden
This unsullied mind

Godless
Without sin
Honest
