I agree with Leanne. There needs to be more explanation. It ended too abruptly and i was left asking Who Where Why and What.

Personally i don't think it's too dark. Kids have emotions that need to be expressed, and happiness is always the main one because eveyrone thinks kids are always happy. Which is absurd. As a child i liked the happy stuff, but i really liked the dark and melancholy stuff. I identified with that more as i had a troubled childhood. So for me as a kid, reading this kind of stuff was a catharsis for me.
