In the backseat Bright sun streams down Makes his cheeks glow As he tells me

When he grows up He’s gonna be Spiderman And Batman And Buzz Light-year And a teenage Mutant Ninja turtle

The funny thing is When I look Through the rear view mirror Into his large chocolate eyes And see his grin I believe him

I think what I like best about this poem is in the third stanza, where the child's brown eyes and smile are framed in the rearview mirror.  It made me smile when I read it.  Very nice Shannon.

I love the title and what you wrote too.

My only suggestion is that you used the word "bright" twice in the first stanza and close together.

"Bright sun streams down
Makes his cheeks bright"

Maybe:

Bright sun streams down
Makes his cheeks glow

This was a really nice read first thing in the morning, after doing battle with my own children to get them on the bus that always seems to run late on the bad days. It made me remember to stop and breath. And then to smile.

Very nicely written, and quite endearing.

Oh, so sweet!!!  Absolutely love it.  There's nothing like Mother love, and how wonderful it is to see it framed in poetry.
