Well Folks,
Here were are. It's just about May. The site is getting there slowly, but it's still so far away. Many of you have been incredibly encouraging. I can't thank you enough for that.
Today I activated a calendar, to which you're all welcome to add. I also added the ability to add in your messenger ID's and have them show up in the user list. (edit your profile, then down at the bottom expand the "contact details menu")
The biggest problem on the site right now is creating personal spaces for one's self, and to that I can only say, try your best, if you make a mistake or can't figure it out, I'll create it for you if you just ask me. Remember, sections are like folders, if you post work, do it as 'pages' not sections.
I'm still working on the developers to add in some features like favorites, different orders for the user list including alphabetical and by last login. Also, the on-site messengering is in the works, i'm hopeful it'll be added in the next month or so.
The forums are functional now, but we probably should organize them. There could be groups, but no one seems that interested so I haven't expanded that much. The collaborative tools are there if anyone wants to play with them.. online writing together with version histories so things aren't lost.
Also, you may add audio files, pictures, pdf's, word docs, spreadsheets, video and the like. They should all work.
I encourage anyone who has a writing group to feel free to use this site as a home-base. I'll help you set up your area as you'd like. Keep me informed -- it's far better for archiving and the like, and with features like polls, and discussion boards easily added by any member that wants them in their space, I think most of you would be able to do whatever it is you're trying to do.
Mostly, as we begin to enter a real beta-testing mode now, I hope you'll all enjoy the site. I'm starting to almost be proud of where it is we are, and I am proud of where we're going.
It's with great joy and a tremendous sense of comradery and community, that I tell you -- all the trials of the last year and a half feel worth it to me. I have missed the old, but this effort has been worth it. I'm in a place now where i feel like we can do this together.
I would like to offer a special thanks to Derma, Leanne, Tracey and Julie -- they have helped me more than anyone can imagine.
And a big giant thank you to everyone who has cared enough to stick around and give me a shot.
