Ok. Alessandra notified me of a problem where work in protected sections can't be commented on. I'm looking into it. I will offer solutions as i find them. Oh, and i'm still waiting to hear back from support on the mail problem. There won't be IM's but at least there will be email contact -- with hidden addresses.

Day 4: The suffering
Well, today i looked into upgrading the server. More space. More speed. Updated software. So, let us see how that goes. I'm optimistic that we'll get somewhere. I think my messenger problem is due to old software on the server. I've needed to upgrade for a while, but I hate spending the money.
Day 8: The Beginning?
In some ways, I feel like things are actually starting now. There definitely is a learning curve here that is making many people uncomfortable. However, there also seems to be a slow movement towards functionality that is reassuring. Perhaps this will work! The negativity I think is fair and warranted since I have in the last 6mos really let down the community in a big way. Hopefully we'll be back on track in the next few weeks.

Due to the generosity of an anonymous benefactor, the total prize for the the Simian Award is doubling.
Yes, you read that right, doubling.
The new prize structure will be as followed:
for each of the three contests annually:
1st place $125 USD
2nd place $50 USD
3rd place $25 USD
for the Grand Simian (chosen from the three winners of the year)
$200 Grand Prize.

Ok... I switched
I switched your editor from YACS to FCKeditor. FCKeditor is a wysiwyg editor, meaning like word. You can actually bold, ital, and line break and it'll hold formating. You'll see.
If you have problems due to the fact that it's a javascript and you've disabled that, it's in your preferences, and you can put it back to the 'yacs' editor.
