Indigo Cabaret

We tip the iris to our lips, and kiss

the flowing purple skirt. Unraveling time

as petals fall from weakened stems.  Dismiss

us. Tip the iris to your lips, and kiss

the flower pinned inside your breath.  You'll miss

it when it's gone, unless ---- you see no crime.

We tip the iris to our lips and kiss

the flowing purple skirt unraveling time.

  • I'm well aware of the foot variation in the second refrain, i was thinking of pronouncing it as unrav'ling...but that would be awkward, but then I thought maybe others would see how time/meter unravels for that split second, coiciding with the line of the poem...I don't know...anyhow, critique the hell out of hit.  I'm strong.

Love your friendly neighborhood port-a-potty.
