It's not technically correct because you're not rhyming, but it actually took me a minute to notice that -- also it's not iambic but your meter is fairly consistent and I like it, it's quite upbeat and pleasant (technically, mostly DUM-da-da dactyls).  I think what this actually proves is that it's not the rhyme scheme that makes these things work, but the refrain and having it (them) fit neatly into the puzzle.  So, I can't give you top marks for following patterns but I do like this an awful lot and I think it's inaccurate but true in spirit.
