I was once asked,
while passing on my way
at the end of the road
“why do you continue?

You have reached the end of your way?”
I pondered to myself
In silent reflection
And responded thus

“the end of this road,
while dusty and worn,
is hardly where I plan to be

I set out on this road
To reach a point
And learn what I could of its winding ways

I began a white blank canvas
It took me to gold sun
and green valley and dale,

passed into the blue
the on red rocks ... more

Silent scream of the artist unleashedMuffled and squished into bathtub guitarThis prince knows of the space Cracks and crevasses between the peaks And valleys of sharp ninths

He can’t use them as the humid waveSettles down and the flattened whineSqueaks through the cone and is receivedBy the masses

Cascading flash tripping down

tenor tone bounces jumping, leaping from the head

Muted squawk interjects tart exclamation point piercing the run

swing back through an alto weave darting across the ride

Flurry breaks to a mellow coronet conversation

answers, melding into the flow of low swing

Low pulse thumps and rises, countering

flash and blaze of harmonized conversation

Bounding back to the final declaration

in a haze of blurred euphony

 Process the ebb
Process the flow
Riding the wave as the current will go Knowing the force
Knowing the form
Dreaming the way of a life yet reborn Feeling the vibe
Feeling the glow
Go with the spirit that the others don't know

Venus appears at the post office
Hanging, twinkling in deep aqua marine
heading West as she follows
above burnt amber edge
She winks as one eye
dancing and following
Her friends appear, fading in
Unaffected by the February chill
cool blue and greeting,
meeting at the front porch
receding until tomorrow
for the need of company
on the way home

There is a soul
She waits
Patiently

Sometimes, her patience wanes
She calls at night
A whisper on the wind
Buffeting semi-conscious thoughts

She calls and asks, why
has she not been brought home
yet she understands
she knows who will be ready soon

Her time has not come
She waits
Patiently

Some people, sometimes, need space
Close as you may be, long time friends
Closer than family, and then
A split, a rift in space time
A gap that seems insurmountable,
But is a loop, a closed möbius strip
You can find you way back
Trick is to head in the right direction
Left works just as well
Because friends can always come together
Again at any time
