A faint roar from the bedroom

Before a high pitched squeal

thump

thump

thumping

Of ten little piggies

Their race down the hall

Round the corner

Last minute skidding

Before take off

And a crash landing

Head first

Into my expectant lap

Thirty seconds

Before a grin

Lifts

to meet big brown eyes

Long fingers

ruffle brown curls

before they reach

to steady the glass of water

clink

clink

clinking

back and forth, back and forth

set in motion

by the little piggie

that ran all the way home.

Money issuesStacks upon stacks of Dirty DishesDaily hour long commutesNever ending custody disputeLooks like rainThe world's gone insaneOut of milkAnd short of timeDarkness comesNothing's ever doneKids finally tucked in bed

On your lapI rest my headWith a gentle handYou fill the gap
