Judging by the styling of the girl's hair and make-up, this is a circa 1930's pin-up. The composition of it is so strange, in my opinion. There's something really freakish about using a polar bear at all but then to put him on his hind legs with the girl on his shoulders, with bridle, et al, just sticks in my craw. The only logical explanation for this is that the artist was wasted out of his mind and he was sitting around laughing his ass off with some musician friends and they said, "Man, draw a chick up on a polar bear." So, he did. I mean, it would be sexier for her to walk wolves on leashes with little igloos in the distance or for her to be in a skimpy little fur lined bikini with mukluks. I can't help but imagine she's mauled and killed after the photo shoot (if she were real) and then the photographer's head is ripped off by the bear and eaten.
