"Daddy, look -- there's God!"
she pointed at the sunlight
singing through the trees
to dance on the forests floor

"Yes honey, there he is,"
I smiled at her as
I took her tiny hand in mine
and scanned her face.

Sincerity is so rare
I almost didn't recognize it
until she slapped her own nose
trying to kill a mosquito

"It itches here,
we should go home for lemonade,"
she grinned almost evil.
I shook my head no.

"Let's go down to the river for a swim
first," God caught my eye
and I sang to her, "Emily Emily Emily Lou
I've loved since way before you were two"

We laughed,
"Let's skip Daddy,"
wrecklessly we did
down the hill to the rocky bank
