"You think I'm a hole to stick things in,"
she laughed,
but those blue eyes reminded me
how sad a girl can be
when all the men she knows are broken.

"you're so wrong,"
i whisper
but she only hears a lie.

"Right, right I forgot I hadn't quite graduated to "hole" stature yet, I'm lollygagging on
"slight rupture to think about sticking things in at a later date."

"that's not how I see you,"
i feel a tear, but I refuse to cry it,
"that's not how I see you at all."

"It's ok,
I don't mind," she tells me.

"It's not ok,
it's not. You're like a daughter to me,
and I just want you to be ok.

it's not ok for every man
to own you with his eyes.

You're more delicate than that."

"Nah, I'm 17. I'm not so innocent.
Don't look so sad, for christ sake,"
she says.

but God,
I know the truth

God.
I know the truth.
