i am listless
at the grocery store
searching for dinner
thousands of miracles
in brightly colored boxes
distracting me from folks dying
far away.
in the back
i find the milk
squeezed mechanically
from the teat of a cow
in Western Massachusetts
there is nothing to say
as I grab the plastic gallon
and finish my foraging
this is the land of milk and honey
