Lairds Fall

Diaphanous Heliotrope

On a back road
In the dark
Lost in the fragrance
Of a brook
Full of death
Decaying dialogue

In a boat
Lost at sea
Floating like a vagrant
My deathbed
Washes me
To heathens

Where’s that place
You recall
You found me there
So long ago
Then pulled me out

With your mouth
Send words to me
I’m under here
Look for my stone

In a corner
Of the church
You’ll find me reciting
Songs of death
Of love
You will see me crying

Alone and bereft
Seems my life is done
No regrets
For all the deeds I’ve sung
Are dreams to the dead
I am one

Wait for me where
Life is stone
My bones brittle
No light in eyes

Give me back my heart
Feel my lost embrace
Share my cold bed
Of loam
It’s home
