Discuss: Misconceptions about this site

Putting your work on this site is no more publishing than putting it in any other blog. If you post on MySpace, Pathetic.org, or any other site, you shouldn't be more worried posting here

I'm really a bit surprised that this even had to be said, but then, having been involved in the editorial process I know that all the magazine staff have shown utmost integrity and definitely no signs of bias either toward or against members of this site.  Shakespeare's Monkey Revue is run in a very professional manner and it's an honour to be associated with it.

The inflormation on relation between the literary mag and site is good, and as I thought, and has been explained. It makes sense.

The publishing part-- some publishers don't want to see work on the web no matter where. (Others don't care.) If it's "members only" it's fine.

(On Path I only have my most recent work available to view by anyone but members.) After it's a month old, I change it to "members only" so I can try to work on having it in print journals.

I need to post more here.

Kath, that's interesting -- I work the other way:  Anything new (that I take seriously) I keep member's only.  Then when/if it's published, I put it in the public domain here as well with a note stating where it was originally/first published, since that's what most publishers ask.

it IS interesting... so I agree, after publication, giving credit to where it has been published, and in public domain is perfect!

When I firstpostsomething I generally like my friends who are not poets or don't belong to the sites, to be able to read

but then I generally want to make it members only in the interim--

for more consideration, friendliness, etc...

my friend Don Campbell: his process:

1.post new poems for a month, public.

2. a)then take them down, put in chapbooks, publish etc.

b) simultaneously start the new month posting new ones

3. repeat every month

I find the variations on this fascinating. I really am not sure how I want to do it. But one thing is--I am so preoccupied with writing that I can't quite figure out the posting-publishing thing. I am always on fire with poetry itself.
