You were ensnared in eye-lock. The eye-lock made you think and feel, and gave you a memory to push and pull or to throw away. You aren't exactly the same as you were a second before you locked eyes.
I find myself mulling over such who-doo-voo-doo moments frequently, looking if not for meaning then probably for writing material.
