Nothing terribly new I suppose -- musicians have been using technology to distort their sounds for thirty or forty years now, like Small Faces' "Itchycoo Park" (one of the greatest songs of all time).  The difference is, those were intentional distortions of GOOD voices, to make them sound weird.  Now they feel obliged to distort BAD voices, to make them sound decent.  Pathetic.  Give me a band that sounds good in the pub any day of the week -- the only thing that makes them sound better is whisky.

Indeed.  A couple of pints of whisky and you can't hear anything.  Worth it when it's Britney et al on the jukebox.
