from the Outside Looking In - Chapter One

I'm not particularly adept about offering any kind of intelligent critique on novels, and mostly I'm just impressed with anyone who can manage to write one.  But I am left wondering, "what happens next?"  Which is a good thing!  I like how the main single character is a doctor who is also wanting a family, as opposed to the usual characters who would have the woman either doing some menial job, or an 'important' job but so career oriented that she has no desire for family.  I'm left interested to see how the death of her parents weaves into the story line.
