Rispetto

I'm looking for information on this Italian Form.

One source I've read, says that it's two quatrains with hendecasyllabic  lines (11-syllables), and another source says that the common meter used is for it is iambic tetrameter?  Help?

Ryan, I think the rispetto is two quatrains in iambic tetrameter usually, although it's not prescribed.

On the other hand, a strambotto is hendecasyllabic in stanzas of either 6 or 8 lines.  They're fairly close in time of origin.

Untitled Rispetto

The sky is orange-peel, and falls
prey to blue pastels. She is sad,
and he is simple minded. All’s
considered fair, in love and mad

revisions. Dream less says the dream
deprived, give more says wishing. Steam
is rising from the hills, and birds
take leave from the absence of words.

I found one site that says the rhyme scheme is:

abababcc

and another that says it's:

ababccdd

The rhyme scheme is completely optional, I think the preferred is abab ccdd but I've seen others.
