SCRANTON SIGNS

Christmas bulbs illuminated the ghosts that dwelled beyond the cracked eyes of the abandoned school

Did anyone else see the absurdity in that sign Coming Soon.... that had perched there almost a decade?

Once upon a time it told a tale of what the once upon a time grandeur of that place would soon hold

but that other sign had gone missing stolen or blown away or eaten by the mines

perhaps its promise lit by cheap white lights to a withering town was this very future

ghosts of children staring out dirty windows whispering coming soon shadows, death and decay.
